CLAIRECORDS NEWSLETTER JUNE ‘06 Welcome to the 21st edition of the Clairecords newsletter, brought to you by a vat of SPF-70 sunblock and a bunch of foofy tropical cocktails with fruit skewers and multiple umbrellas. AIR FORMATION Air Formation’s next studio album, Daylight Storms, is presently undergoing mixing. Crafted with the adept assistance of producer Pat Collier (House of Love, Adorable, The Soft Boys), these ten tracks of blissful goodness should arrive sometime this fall. The band is also happy to announce the addition of guitarist Phil Macy to their lineup; he replaces Ian Sheridan, who amicably departed the band in April. And look out below for UK tourdates! http://www.airformation.com CLAIRE'S ECHO The next two releases from our new vinyl-only imprint, Claire’s Echo, will feature Sway’s Winter Heart and Montreal’s destroyalldreamers. Subsequent issuances will feature Casino vs. Japan, Mahogany, Park Avenue Music, Astrobrite and many, many more; all are limited to a 300-copy pressing. What? You haven’t subscribed yet? We’ve seen it happen. http://www.thebrotherkite.com *** CLAIRECORDS MEDIA DARLINGS! *** THE BROTHER KITE “The human voice -- even one as ethereally lovely as lead singer Patrick Boutwell's -- is just one more instrument in the melange of guitars, keyboards and percussion that make up The Brother Kite's shoegaze sound. Think waves of harmony and melody, plus insistent rhythms, all sounding like a cross between The Beach Boys and a symphony, and you start to get the idea.” - The Providence Journal ** CLAIRECORDS LIVE AND IN STEREO! ** AIR FORMATION 7/20/06 Brighton, UK- Hanbury Ballroom 7/21/06 London UK- Club AC30 @ Water Rat’s Theatre w/ Secret Shine, The Workhouse AIRIEL 7/03/06 Chicago IL- The Darkroom 7/07/06 Chicago IL- Double Door w/ Helen Stellar EAU CLAIRE 8/10/06 Los Angeles CA- Silverlake Lounge* 8/11/06 Los Angeles CA- TBA* 8/12/06 Long Beach CA- The Prospector* 8/17/06 San Francisco, CA- Make-Out Room* 8/18/06 Oakland/Berkeley CA- TBA* 8/19/06 Davis, CA- Delta of Venus* 11/17/06 Boston, MA- Regent Theater (Brainwaves Festival)** * Rachel Staggs solo performance ** Jessica Bailiff solo performance ELECTRO GROUP 7/07/06 Sacramento CA- Fool’s Foundation w/ The Lilys SCIFLYER 8/16/06 Glendale CA- The Scene w/ LSD & the Search for God 8/17/06 Long Beach, CA- The Prospector w/ artDamaged, LSD & the Search for God 8/18/06 Hollywood CA- Lava Lounge w/ artDamaged, LSD & the Search for God 8/19/06 Phoenix, AZ- Modified w/ artDamaged, LSD & the Search for God 8/20/06 Las Vegas NV- Divebar w/ artDamaged, LSD & the Search for God 8/23/06 San Francisco, CA- Make Out Room w/ LSD & the Search for God THE BROTHER KITE 7/04/06 Providence RI- Liberty Fest 8/05/06 Providence RI- Century Lounge 8/06/06 Allston, MA- Great Scott 8/08/06 New York, NY- Sin-e 8/10/06 New York NY- Piano’s w/ The Rinse HEY! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING? (A peek into the inner sanctums of your favorite Clairecords stars!) Matt Bartram (AIR FORMATION) “What am I doing? Not watching football and getting ready to wed my girlfriend in two weeks time.” Cris Miller (SILVER SCREEN) “I just joined a new Aztec dance circle up in L.A. and I'm having a great time with it...last Sunday I learned many of the members also play indigenous instruments...all sorts of handmade drums and percussion, flutes, some instruments that make sounds like wild animals of the deserts and forests, cut pieces of granite hit with mallets that make musical notes, fascinating. We did a recording session with about ten people. Without exaggeration I can say it was one of the most special experiences of my life, recording and otherwise. Yes, there are still Silver Screen songs being recorded too, lots of nice stuff you will hear previews of soon.” Questions? Comments? Want to book one of our bands?
