As Rachel Staggs reports, “Eau Claire is currently working on songs in separate states (Texas/Ohio) for a future release as well as deciding who with and where these recordings will take place. While we both focus on our solo material this year, we hope to rack up frequent flyer miles so we can make another Eau Claire release possible in 2007.” In further news, Rachel enjoyed a prestigious DJ gig in London with Air Formation and Secret Shine, and is set to launch a whirlwind tour of the western U.S. in the not-too-distant future. And Jessica’s latest solo album, Feels Like Home, is now available through your friends at Kranky. http://www.eauclairemusic.com SCIFLYER Calling all occupants of interplanetary craft! Sciflyer have announced plans to begin recording their next outing of otherworldly magic after they return from their brief but rollicking tour of the West Coast. The forthcoming full-length is emerging under the working title They Only Believe In The Moon, and its tracklisting includes “So Close To Over,” “Strange Kind,” “Creator” and “Interstellar Overdrive,” a “Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd cover,” according to Steve Kennedy. The band hope to complete recording in January or February, though no potential release date has been set. Stay tuned, kiddies! http://www.sciflyer.net THE BROTHER KITE If you were in the Providence area the other night and ventured towards the vicinity of AS220, you very likely watched in unbridled ecstasy as The Brother Kite shared a most outstanding bill with Danielson of Danielson Famile fame. Fret not if you were unable to attend, for The Brother Kite have booked a handful of live appearances in the Northeast with plenty more to come. The group have also completed their very first video (“I’m Not the Only One”, off the forthcoming Waiting for the Time to Be Right), which will be available for your downloading pleasure soon. http://www.thebrotherkite.com *** CLAIRECORDS MEETS THE PRESS! *** THE BROTHER KITE “The Brother Kite is a Rhode Island band that channels Ride, My Bloody Valentine, the Jesus and Mary Chain and other practitioners of the faraway vocal, the autumn-sun guitar, the would-be anthem.
