But who’s this Claire Records label they’re talking about? http://www.mahogany.nu THE DAYSLEEPERS We at Clairecords are beyond thrilled to announce the addition of Buffalo, NY melody makers The Daysleepers to our roster. If groups like the Bethany Curve make your ears happy, we’re confident you’ll find The Daysleepers essential listening. According to vocalist/guitarist Jeff Kandefer, “We Daysleepers are very hard at work on our full length CD, Drowned in a Sea of Sound. I have been picking artwork for the album’s design and working on the layout a bunch. We have about 6 songs out of the 10 written for the new album. So far our second singer Elizabeth, will be taking lead vocals on at least 2 of the tracks. Her voice is dreamy and adds some great vocal variety to the new stuff. We will be hitting the studio in early August to record the second track on the album ‘Twilight Bloom,’ that will also appear as a b-side on Club AC30's very limited 7" single they are going to release for us in the UK for our song the ‘The Soft Attack.’ Also I have been in contact with Ulrich Schnauss and Robin Guthrie about mixing a few of the songs for the full length. It appears they are both very excited to work on some Daysleepers material. Great guys, those two! I am of course a huge fan of both, and I can't wait to see what they do to our songs.” http://www.thedaysleepers.com SILVER SCREEN Cris Miller has posted a brand-new song called “Come Go Return” on Silver Screen’s Myspace page, and it’s spectacularly-beautiful if we do say so ourselves. In further news, Cris has been collaborating with fellow Angeleno Annie Barker, whose forthcoming record is being produced by ex-Cocteau Twin Robin Guthrie: “I wrote a message to say I really enjoyed her sound. She wrote back and said she could use a guitarist for live shows and would I be interested. I said yes and we have had a little bit of rehearsing already. This might result in something very pretty and productive for me! This doesn't hinder any progress being made on silver screen material. Songs are still being recorded and tidied up for another LP release. This one is going to be good...get ready!” http://www.myspace.com/thegreateststorynevertold THE BROTHER KITE If you haven’t downloaded Adult Swim’s new free Warm and Scratchy compilation (which includes a brand-new TBK track, “Half Century,” alongside contributions by Asobi Seksu, Amusement Parks on Fire, The Good, The Bad and the Queen and many other melody makers worth your listening attention), please do so here: http://www.adultswim.com/williams/music/warmandscratchy/ . RAYMOND SCOTT WOOLSON “Raymond Scott Woolson is currently chained to a pair of headphones, tediously writing and recording his new album, which will be his Clairecords debut. No temper tantrums yet. Progress is slow but sure. It's gonna be a monster.” Jeff Kandefer (THE DAYSLEEPERS) “What have I been listening to lately? Hmmmm. Been listening to the Chameleons a lot these days. Such a perfect band in my eyes. They have all the ‘feeling’ that I love in music, amazing guitar work as well. Also: Heaviness, Hammock, Dinosaur Jr., Rumskib, Colour Kane, Air Formation, Guitar, Robin Guthrie, Ulrich, Jaga Jazzist, Slowdive and of course my favorite band The Cure. Been eating? A lot of sushi and Thai. Dreaming about? Summer, sea life, my girlfriend Elizabeth.”
