CLAIRECORDS NEWSLETTER JANUARY 2008 Welcome to the 36th edition of the Clairecords newsletter, brought to you by the letter F, the number 2, and a nice hot steaming mug of Theraflu. PARK AVENUE MUSIC/HEARTS + HORSES You may remember park avenue music from their fabtastic last outing, 2003’s For Your Home or Office. Since then, the husband-and-wife team of Juju Faith (vocals, keyboards) and Wes Steed (programming) have revamped their lineup to include guest cellist Gretchen Lehtonen. Keep your ears peeled for new recordings, now emerging under the handle of park avenue music by hearts + horses (to be the last release under the park avenue music moniker) sometime in April. http://www.parkavenuemusic.com http://www.myspace.com/parkavenuemusic SECRET SHINE Secret Shine’s first studio full-length in since 1993’s ‘Elemental’ finally has not only a title but a release date as well: ‘All of the Stars’ and April 8, respectively. Two weeks’ worth of March tourdates have been confirmed to coincide with the band’s first appearance at South By Southwest (SXSW), with Tears Run Rings accompanying them. Dates below! It’s been almost two years since the Shinees last set foot on American soil (and the first time they’ve foraged their way up and down the Midwest), so if they play your provenance and you miss it, you’re, um, very subhuman. New T-shirts are available for perusal and purchase at tonevendor.com , as are plenty of copies of our 2004 ‘After Years’ compilation for yourself and every single one of your friends! http://www.secretshine.co.uk http://www.myspace.com/secretshine TEARS RUN RINGS One of the newest additions to the Clairecords family, the Seattle-by way of Portland-by-way of Los Angeles foursome known as Tears Run Rings has settled upon a title for their debut on our upstanding imprint: Always, Sometimes, Seldom, Never, due out in April. Previews of its contents can be found on the group’s Myspace page, and live dates with Secret Shine can be found below. http://www.tearsrunrings.com http://www.myspace.com/tearsrunrings * * * OUR PRESS. LET US SHOW YOU IT. * * * IFWHEN “In his previous band, All Natural Lemon and Lime Flavors, vocalist + guitarist + programmer Merc helped assemble some of the best hypnotic noise since Loveless. While there are definite reminders of All Natural Lemon's sound effects and androgynous vocals, Ifwhen is even more adventurous and mind-bending. “ –Kenyon Hopkin, Advance Copy * * * CLAIRECORDS ON THE ROAD AGAIN * * * AIRIEL 02/03/08 Chicago, IL- Local 101 (listen live on WKQX-FM) 02/08/08 Chicago, IL- The Darkroom 02/17/08 Chicago, IL- Schubas w/ A Place to Bury Strangers, Holy Fuck 03/19/08 Hollywood, CA- Club Moscow w/ Film School 03/20/08 Los Angeles, CA- Spaceland w/ Film School 05/01/08 Galway, IE- De Burgos w/ Ulrich Schnauss 05/02/08 Dublin, IE- Button Factory w/ Ulrich Schnauss 05/03/08 Belfast, IE- Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival w/ Ulrich Schnauss SECRET SHINE 02/16/08 Bristol, UK- The Crown (Big Pink Cake DJ Set) 03/12-15/08 Austin, TX (SXSW; dates/venues TBC) 03/16/08 Oklahoma City, OK- TBA 03/17/08 Fayetteville, AR- The Gypsy 03/18/08 St. Louis, MO- Apop Records w/ Stella Mora 03/19/08 Indianapolis, IN- Melody Inn 03/20/08 Milwaukee, WI- The Borg Ward w/ Brief Candles 03/21/08 Chicago, IL- The Note w/ STAR, Hostage Juliet 03/22/08 Des Moines, IA- Vaudeville Mews 03/23/08 Wichita, KS/Kansas City, MO- TBA TEARS RUN RINGS 03/16/08 Oklahoma City, OK- TBA 03/17/08 Fayetteville, AR- The Gypsy 03/18/08 St. Louis, MO- Apop Records w/ Stella Mora 03/19/08 Indianapolis, IN- Melody Inn 03/20/08 Milwaukee, WI- The Borg Ward w/ Brief Candles 03/21/08 Chicago, IL- The Note w/ STAR, Hostage Juliet 03/22/08 Des Moines, IA- Vaudeville Mews 03/23/08 Wichita, KS/Kansas City, MO- TBA THE BROTHER KITE 03/12-15/08 Austin, TX (SXSW; dates/venues TBC) HEY, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING?
